Inductee Biography
Returned to Fort Lauderdale in 1972 after a successful career in venture capital in Chicago to run his family’s business, North American Company LLC. Organized Sea Ranch Properties Inc. to develop real estate in Broward and Palm Beach counties. Has developed more than 1,500 high-rise condominium units and 2,400 single-family homes in the region. Developed a diversified holding company that acquired more than 30 companies, including ACR Electronics and Unipower in Broward County, as well as firms in other parts of the country, such as MECC [Minnesota Educational Computing Corporation], creator of the video game The Oregon Trail. MECC later became The Learning Company.
